Handsome Joseph P.
Kennedy, Jr. was one of the authentic
heroes of the Second World War. In August
of 1944, the daring naval aviator flew
a plane full of explosives toward the
German V-1 bases in France. He and his
co-pilot were supposed to bail out,
the plane flying on directed by a robot
plane. Just before he parachuted, the
plane exploded. (John F. Kennedy Presidential
Library)
